Living on the coast sometimes means putting up with a little rain now and then, but one of the delights with late-afternoon Spring showers is that they often produce beautiful rainbows.
I was returning home from an architecture photo shoot in the Old City Quarter of Nanaimo when I spotted this wonderful rainbow forming over Departure Bay. I pulled the car over and grabbing my camera gear I took a few shots of the rainbow over Newcastle Island.
I got some good shots, but just then I heard the ferry blow its horn, and I knew that if the rainbow lasted just a little longer I would get a great shot.
Sure enough, just before the rainbow faded the Departure Bay ferry sailed right into position.
